The A259 has been closed in both directions following a late-night road traffic collision near Saltdean Lido in East Sussex.
Emergency services were called to the incident at around 11pm on Sunday (9 August), with the main coastal route remaining shut while crews work at the scene. The closure is in place in the Saltdean Lido area, affecting traffic travelling between Brighton and Peacehaven. Police and other emergency services are in attendance, while an HM Coastguard vehicle has also been seen at the scene. The reason for the Coastguard’s involvement has not yet been confirmed. There are currently no confirmed details regarding the number of vehicles involved or whether anyone has been seriously injured. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while the emergency response continues. Sussex Police and HM Coastguard have been approached for further information.
