Two men have been arrested and a police officer was taken to hospital following a violent incident in Peckham High Street during the early hours of Saturday morning. The Metropolitan Police were called at around 3.45am on Saturday, August 8, following reports of a stabbing in Peckham High Street, south London. Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and found a man in his 40s suffering from injuries allegedly sustained after being attacked with a glass bottle. The man, who was reported at the scene to have been using a wheelchair, was taken to hospital. Police said his injuries were assessed as not life-threatening.
Knife recovered at scene
The man in his 40s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon after officers recovered a knife at the scene. A second man, aged in his 30s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH). He was also taken to hospital as a precaution. A police officer was injured during the incident and required hospital treatment. Police confirmed that the officer and both arrested men have since been discharged from hospital. The two suspects remain in police custody while enquiries continue.
