Dominic Hall, 36, has been sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison for manslaughter after fatally attacking Andrew Boltwood, 40, at the disused Magic Rock Brewery site in Huddersfield.

The Leeds Crown Court trial concluded on Friday 19 June 2026, bringing to an end months of investigation by West Yorkshire Police.

Hall and Mr Boltwood had left a property on Cambridge Road to visit the former brewery premises on Willow Lane on 16 November 2025. A dispute broke out between the two men before Hall fatally assaulted Mr Boltwood, delivering heavy blows to his face and head.

Post-mortem reports revealed that Mr Boltwood suffered 59 injuries, including severe blunt force trauma, a fractured upper jaw, and a broken nose. Officers discovered his body on the premises three days after he was reported missing.

Investigators recovered CCTV footage showing Hall returning alone to Cambridge Road hours after the incident, wearing blood-stained trousers. Forensic tests confirmed the blood matched the victim’s, which led to Hall’s arrest and subsequent charge.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Cox said, “Hall maintained he acted in self-defence, but our inquiry proved the force used went well beyond that. He has been rightfully jailed, and we hope this verdict brings comfort to Mr Boltwood’s family.”
