A murder investigation has been launched after a 23-year-old woman was found dead at a home in Islington, with six people arrested. Emergency services were called to Bollinder Place, Islington, following concerns for the welfare of a woman on Thursday (6 August). Officers found the 23-year-old unresponsive inside the property and she was pronounced dead at the scene at around 9.30am. Six people who were at the address were arrested on suspicion of murder. They were four women aged 20, 21, 23 and 26 and two men aged 21 and 24. All six have since been released on bail while detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Forensic examinations carried out
Detectives are working to establish what happened in the period leading up to the woman’s death. Forensic examinations have been carried out and officers are reviewing available evidence and speaking with witnesses. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our investigation is progressing at pace and detectives are working to establish exactly what happened in the time leading up to this woman’s death. “A number of people were arrested at the scene and have since been released on bail while enquiries continue. “Officers have been carrying out forensic examinations, reviewing available evidence and speaking to witnesses to build a full picture of the circumstances.” He urged anyone with information, regardless of how insignificant they believe it may be, to contact police.
Police say no wider risk to public
Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart described the woman’s death as a “tragic incident” and sought to reassure people living in the area. He said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young woman who has lost her life. “We understand that news of an incident like this will cause concern within the local community. Local officers will continue to be visible in the area and are available to speak with residents who have questions or concerns.” Police currently believe the incident was isolated and said there is no wider risk to the public.
