South West Water Unveils £3 Billion Investment Blitz
South West Water is gearing up for a massive £3 billion infrastructure overhaul from 2025 to 2030. This ambitious project promises to supercharge the South West’s water network while boosting the local economy with around 2,000 new jobs.
Top Construction Giants on Board
Big names are set to lead the charge. BAM Nuttall, Clancy, and Mott MacDonald Bentley will tackle the western region’s upgrades. Meanwhile, Tilbury Douglas, MWH Treatment, and Network Plus Envolve are handling projects in the east. Together, they’ll build new treatment works and reservoirs to keep pace with growing demand.
Expert Consultants to Drive Efficiency and Innovation
Supporting the build are top-tier consultants including Stantec, Long O’Donnell, Turner & Townsend, Aecom, Arcadis, Pell Frischmann, ChandlersKBS, and WSP. They’ll ensure the project delivers value for money, top-notch design, and strong project management.
Fixing Storm Overflows and Future-Proofing Water Supply
The investment includes the vital WaterFit programme to slash storm overflow use, maintain pristine bathing waters, and boost water resilience against climate change. South West Water also plans to bring in local specialist firms soon, ensuring flexibility and strength across the entire region.
Susan Davy, Chief Executive of South West Water: “These appointments will help turn our plan – the right one for our region – into reality. We’re already tackling the challenges we face, but with greater investment, we can go further and faster. We look forward to working with our partners over the years to come as we deliver the projects to meet the needs of the Greater South West.”
This mega-investment marks a pivotal moment for South West Water as it embarks on a transformative journey to upgrade infrastructure, support sustainability, and secure the region’s water future.
