Call the Midwife Fans Fume as BAFTAs Boot Beloved BBC1 Show
TV hit Call the Midwife has been pushed off its usual Sunday 8pm BBC One slot tonight – and fans are livid. The reason? The star-studded BAFTA Film Awards have taken over the prime time spot.
BAFTA Night Snatches Call the Midwife Slot
The beloved drama won’t be on air this Sunday as the BAFTAs roll out live from London’s Royal Festival Hall. Hosted by American Traitors star Alan Cumming, the ceremony kicks off at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
This year’s BAFTAs boast top noms like Sinners, Hamnet, One Battle After Another, and I Swear. Plus, expect show-stopping performances from Jessie Ware and the K-Pop trio behind Netflix’s Demon Hunters.
Call the Midwife Break Officially Confirmed
The Call the Midwife Instagram feed broke the news with a cheeky message following last week’s episode:

Viewers took to social media to vent their rage at the dreaded hiatus:
- “I don’t think I can cope with the wait.”
- “For god’s sake why can’t it be on BBC2?”
- “Not happy with that, why can’t they put the BAFTAs on a different channel?”
- “Thought we’d escape the BAFTAs interruption this year.”
- “Nooooooo don’t want the BAFTAs I want CTM instead!!!”
