British Transport Police have charged two men in connection with a serious assault that took place at Charing Cross Underground station in central London. The incident occurred early on Sunday 10 May in the ticket hall, resulting in a man in his 20s sustaining life-threatening head injuries.

The victim was immediately rushed to hospital for urgent medical treatment following the attack. The suspects, 22-year-old Davion Defoe of Darcy Road and 18-year-old Cavalli Russell of Teevan Road, both from Croydon, were arrested on the same day and subsequently charged with grievous bodily harm.

Both men appeared at Highbury Magistrates Court on 12 May. A fourth man remains in police custody as investigations continue, while another individual arrested in connection with the assault has been released on bail.

Police and paramedics were alerted to the assault by station staff at approximately 5:40am on 10 May. Immediate medical aid was provided at the scene before the victim was transported to hospital with critical head injuries.

British Transport Police have issued a continuing appeal for witnesses or anyone with information or footage related to the assault to come forward. Information can be submitted by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 96 of 10 May.

Support is currently being offered to the victim’s family during this difficult time.
