Tragic Loss: PC Faizaan Najeeb Dies After Horror Crash
Northamptonshire Police are devastated after PC Faizaan Najeeb, 24, died a week following a serious road traffic collision.
Young Officer’s Fatal Crash
PC Najeeb was responding to a single-vehicle accident on Station Road, Raunds, just after midnight on September 19. His police car collided with a blue VW Polo, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, but despite the medical team’s best efforts, he sadly passed away early on Friday, September 26.
Rising Star Taken Too Soon
PC Najeeb joined Northamptonshire Police in May 2022 and worked with the Response team in Wellingborough.
In a rare mark of respect, his collar number, P1967, will be retired. This solemn honour is reserved for officers who die in the line of duty.
Force Launches Probe; Family Supported
Chief Constable Ivan Balhatchet expressed heartfelt sorrow, saying, “Words cannot describe the sadness felt when an officer loses his life serving in the line of duty.”
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is examining the crash. Meanwhile, family liaison officers are providing support to PC Najeeb’s loved ones.
An internal health and safety review is underway. A man in his 20s, arrested at the scene, has been bailed pending further inquiries.

- A flag flew at half-mast at Northamptonshire Police’s Wootton Hall HQ today.
- A two-minute silence will be held next week in honour of PC Najeeb.
