Tragic Blaze in Swindon: Toddler Left Comatose After House Fire
A terrifying overnight fire in Swindon has left a four-year-old girl in a coma. Emergency services raced to a blazing terraced home on Queens Drive at 5:38am on Saturday, August 16.
Family Escape Shattered by Fire
Firefighters from Swindon, Stratton, and Westlea, along with Wiltshire Police and South Western Ambulance, battled the blaze. Four family members escaped the flames before crews arrived. But youngest daughter Evy Andrews wasn’t so lucky.
Evy was rescued from the burning home and rushed to 123 is live for well-wishers wanting to help.
Investigation and Road Closures
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire began accidentally in the ground-floor living room. Fire crews used three jets and six breathing apparatus wearers to bring it under control by 8am.
“Three crews attended, from Swindon, Stratton and Westlea. Four occupants had escaped the house before we arrived, and a child was rescued. All five were taken to hospital,” said a fire service spokesperson.
Wiltshire Police temporarily closed Queens Drive between Windsor Road and Rushton Road until around 9:30am. The road has since reopened. Authorities confirmed the fire is not suspicious.
