R&B Star D’Angelo Dies Aged 51 After Cancer Battle

Family Mourns Legendary Singer

Michael Eugene Archer, known worldwide as D’Angelo, has died aged 51 following a cancer diagnosis. His family paid tribute, calling him a “shining star” who leaves behind a legacy of extraordinarily moving music. They urged fans to honour the gift of song he gave the world.

From Songwriter to R&B Icon

D’Angelo started his career writing songs for big names like Lauryn Hill and The Roots before exploding onto the scene in the 1990s. His debut album, Brown Sugar, launched him into superstardom. In 1996, his hit single “Lady” soared to number 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100, sealing his place as an R&B legend.

“The shining star of our family has dimmed his light for us in this life,” his family said in a moving statement.
