Two lanes of the M27 westbound came to a standstill after a camper van caught fire between junction 8 (Hamble) and junction 7 (Hedge End). The blaze caused serious damage, forcing a major traffic hold-up.

Crews from Hightown, St Mary’s, and Fareham rushed to the scene. They tackled the flames with two breathing apparatus sets and two hosereels, successfully putting out the fire. Despite their efforts, the vehicle was badly damaged.
Drivers Face Massive 90-Minute Delays
Traffic is snarled up all the way back to junction 9 as long delays continue while lanes remain closed. Motorists are stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic with some reporting hold-ups of up to 90 minutes.
