Major HGV Crash Shuts M26 Near Wrotham

A huge lorry crash has brought chaos to the M26 this morning. The heavy goods vehicle veered off the road between Junction 2A (Wrotham) and the M25 around 4am, causing major disruption.

Crane Called In as Recovery Work Slows Traffic

The lorry suffered severe damage, forcing emergency crews to bring in a crane to clear the scene. Motorway barriers were so badly hit that sections had to be cut away to get the HGV out.

Two lanes remain closed while workers remove the wreckage and repair the barriers. National Highways warned drivers to brace for massive delays, with normal traffic flow not expected until around 11:30am.

Icy Conditions Make Driving Even More Treacherous

The crash comes amid warnings of icy and snowy conditions forecast for the weekend. Motorists are urged to stay alert, check for updates, and find alternative routes if possible.

Kent Police have been contacted for more details on the incident.
