Police in Halesowen have cracked down on a convoy of supercars caught causing havoc on the roads. West Midlands Police (WMP) Traffic officers stopped one of the high-performance cars this afternoon and found it had no insurance. The driver was reported, and other convoy members were slapped with Section 59 warnings for anti-social driving.
Supercar Seized After No-Insurance Stop
WMP Traffic took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that the uninsured car was seized following “concerns about the manner of driving” by this vehicle and others travelling together in the Halesowen area. The driver faces police action while the rest of the convoy received Section 59 warnings.
What’s a Section 59 Warning?
A Section 59 warning, under the Police Reform Act 2002, is issued when a vehicle is being driven recklessly, causing alarm, distress, or annoyance. It’s often used against careless or anti-social drivers. Should the same driver or vehicle repeat the offence within 12 months, police have the authority to seize the vehicle outright.
Police Urge Public to Help Nail Dangerous Drivers
Officers are calling on the public to report dangerous or nuisance driving, especially when convoys or vehicle meet-ups disrupt local communities. Dashcam footage, along with details like times and locations, can be crucial in helping police crack down on trouble spots.
