Joyful Jams Bags £50k Lottery Boost to Fight Dementia Through the Arts
Big Win for Creative Minds Project
Joyful Jams has scored a crucial £50,000 grant from the People’s Lottery Fund, backed by public votes. This cash injection will power their groundbreaking Creative Minds project, led by Louisa White, which supports hundreds battling dementia across Hampshire.
The Point in Eastleigh to Host Artist Training
The Point venue in Eastleigh is rolling out the red carpet to host artist training sessions. This means local dance practitioners and artists will get the skills they need to deliver high-quality arts access to those affected by dementia.
“We are delighted with this news; it means we can support the vital work Joyful Jams have created, for and with the local community in Eastleigh, and beyond who have dementia. We will provide space and time for local dance practitioners to train in this area to continue to offer high quality access to the arts.” – Vicki Hargreaves, Dance Development Manager
Why This Matters: Dementia Hits 20,000 in Hampshire
With around 20,000 people in Hampshire living with dementia, the charity’s work offers a lifeline. Through arts and creativity, those suffering can experience joy, reconnect with loved ones, and reclaim their identity beyond the disease.
