Massive Garden Blaze Rocks Dartford
A huge garden fire ripped through Bayly Road, Dartford, sending towering flames and thick smoke into the sky. The blaze has now been doused, but not before sparking widespread panic among locals.
Flames Soar 40 Feet High – Eyewitnesses Shocked
Witnesses say the flames shot at least 40 feet into the air, with burning embers flying everywhere. Paul Styles, who spotted the inferno from his dining room, called it “horrific”:
“Saw that from our dining room, it looked horrific, flames at least 40 foot high and embers everywhere.”
Road Closures and Emergency Alerts as Danger Lurks
The fire erupted in a back garden on Bow Arrow Lane. Authorities shut Bayly Road and St. Vincent’s to keep residents safe. Police warned locals to stay indoors due to hazards like gas canisters and asbestos in the smoke.
“It was in a back garden on Bow Arrow Lane. The road is blocked off at Bayly Road and St. Vincent’s. Police are asking everyone to stay indoors due to a danger of gas canisters and asbestos,” shared local Mandy Butler.
Firefighters Race to Scene – Firework to Blame
Fire crews arrived swiftly and brought the blaze under control. Eyewitness Nicola Dines said the fire was sparked by a firework:
“It was caused by a firework.”
Relieved locals breathed a sigh of relief. Esther Bryan commented:
“That’s a relief as I called The Fire Brigade not realising one was already called it looked bad too. I hope everyone is ok.”
Smoke from the fire was even spotted as far away as Wilmington and the Fleet estate, underlining the fire’s ferocity.
