Firefighter Seriously Injured in Industrial Digger Incident

Hampshire firefighter Rob Porter has been rushed to Southampton General Hospital after a nasty accident involving an industrial digger. The retained firefighter from Odiham Fire Station near Basingstoke was taken to the specialist Head Injury Unit on Wednesday.

Rob also works full-time at Thruxton Airport, near Andover, home to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. His family say he is currently in stable condition.

Major Head Injury but No Spinal Damage

According to Rob’s brother, while he suffers a serious head injury, there are no spinal or brain injuries. However, Rob is expected to need several operations to recover fully.
