David Grout, from Send near Woking, has been caught out in his sixth Surrey sex sting. The 14-year-old bait was lured to a meet in Aldershot – until Grout suddenly switched the location to Woking at the last minute.
Underage Trap Foiled by Pedophile Hunter
Despite knowing the girl was underage, Grout tried to wriggle free, claiming he couldn’t make the meet because he was babysitting. But Shane Brannigan, the builder-turned-vigilante, wasn’t having it.
“I don’t like going to people’s doors but had no alternative,” said Brannigan. “David Grout, who’s partially sighted, nearly choked on his bacon butty when I knocked at his house on Sunday morning.”
Face-to-Face Showdown
Brannigan added: “His family and friends looked upset and more people gathered—maybe trying to intimidate me. But arranging to meet a child for sex is beyond the pale. I’ll never turn a blind eye.”
Despite poor eyesight, Grout managed to type messages without trouble. When Surrey Police came knocking, they barely had to move to get at his door.
Police Step In as Evidence Handed Over
Brannigan has now handed all chat logs to Surrey Police. A spokesman confirmed: “A man has been arrested and questioned. Enquiries are ongoing.”
