Three children have been rushed to hospital after a car slammed into them while they played on a pavement in west Belfast. The shocking crash happened near Black Ridge View just before 5pm on Sunday, 24 August.

Driver Flees After Reversing Into Children

Police report that the vehicle reversed into two girls and a boy before speeding off from the scene. Emergency services quickly responded, taking all three children to hospital. Their conditions remain unknown.

37-Year-Old Man Arrested on Serious Charges

A 37-year-old man has been arrested and is currently in custody. He faces multiple serious allegations including:

  • Driving with excess alcohol in breath
  • Causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving
  • Failing to stop, report, or remain at the scene of an injury collision

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to assist the investigation. A PSNI spokesperson said:

“Anyone who may have seen the incident or captured it on video is asked to contact police at Woodbourne station on 101.”
