The family of 13-year-old Lachlan, who died after being hit by a car while riding his scooter in Grimsby, have paid a heartfelt tribute to his “infectious smile” and “cheeky charm”. The teenager suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a white Seat Ibiza on Tuesday, 24 March, and passed away three days later.
Family Mourns “Bright Light” Taken Too Soon
Lachlan’s sister and guardian opened up about his vibrant personality: “His smile was truly infectious, lighting up any room he entered. It wasn’t just his mouth that smiled – his eyes sparkled with joy and warmth. He made everyone around him feel happy with his naturally funny, cheeky charm.”
She also revealed a touching final gift: “In keeping with the kind and selfless person he was, Lachlan was an organ donor. Even now, he continues to help others. I’m going to be lost without my sidekick. Fly high, my Hot Chochlan.”
Police Arrest Two Men in Scooter Tragedy Probe
Humberside Police have arrested two men connected to the crash. An 18-year-old faces charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and attempting to pervert the course of justice. A 41-year-old man is also questioned over perverting the course of justice.
Both suspects have been released under investigation as detectives dig deeper into the collision.
Witnesses Urged to Come Forward
Emergency services rushed to the scene but sadly couldn’t save Lachlan, who died after several days in hospital.
