Oxford Murder Shocker: Two Men Held After 22-Year-Old Stabbed to Death
Police have arrested two Oxford men over the murder of a 22-year-old in a brutal attack last week. A 25-year-old and an 18-year-old were detained on suspicion of murder and remain in custody as the investigation heats up.
Fatal Attack on Southfield Road
The shocking violence unfolded last Wednesday (27/2) on Southfield Road. Two men came under attack, including a 22-year-old from Southampton who was hit by a vehicle and stabbed multiple times. He tragically died at the John Radcliffe Hospital last night (6/3).
The second victim, a 27-year-old, suffered less severe injuries and has now been discharged.
More Arrests & Police Appeal
- A 19-year-old with no fixed address remains in custody.
- A 22-year-old from Oxford, arrested last week, is on bail until 27 March.
- A 20-year-old Oxford man is on bail until 1 April.
- A 21-year-old Oxford man has been released without charge.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Blaik of Thames Valley Police said: “Tragically, the injuries sustained by one of the victims have proved fatal. We’ve launched a full murder investigation. We believe the attack began on Ridgefield Road around 11.20pm and continued onto Southfield Road.
“We’re supporting the victim’s family and the other victim with specially trained officers. We’re urgently asking witnesses or anyone with mobile phone, CCTV, or dash-cam footage to contact us on 101 quoting URN 1134 (6/3).”
Community on Edge but Police Reassure
Oxford City Police Commander Supt Joe Kidman said: “This incident has understandably shaken the community. However, there is no ongoing threat to the wider area.”
He confirmed extra police patrols will be deployed, including neighbourhood officers and specialist teams. Residents are urged to speak with officers if they have concerns or information.
