Loft Conversion Goes Up in Flames in Early Morning Blaze

A mid-terraced house’s loft conversion was gutted by fire at dawn, forcing eight residents from neighbouring homes to flee before firefighters arrived. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Cannabis Factory Fire Raises Serious Dangers

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson warned: “Cannabis factory fires can be especially hazardous due to criminals using unsafe wiring to steal electricity for growing plants. These illegal grows are often hidden in lofts or top floors, allowing fires to spread rapidly.

“They’re often in top floors or lofts which means when a fire takes hold it spreads, destroying roofs and damaging neighbouring buildings. Firefighters can also be exposed to risks when dealing with the fires because of bad wiring and traps at some of the properties. It’s important that people know the key signs and inform the police so that they can act swiftly to prevent these dangerous fires from happening.”

Fire Under Control After Nearly Two Hours

The Brigade got the call at 5.28am, with the fire under control by 7.17am. Crews from Walthamstow, Chingford, Leyton, Leytonstone, and nearby stations tackled the blaze.

Investigation Underway

The cause is being probed by London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service. Locals are urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to prevent future incidents.
