M25 Chaos: Officer Injured and Three Arrested After Gantry Protests

An officer was hurt and three people arrested amid turmoil on the M25 this morning. The drama unfolded between Junctions 26 and 30, causing traffic chaos and a serious collision involving lorries and a police motorbike.

Rolling Roadblock Sparks Collision

Police first stepped in when protestors attempted to access motorway gantries near Junctions 26 and 27. To manage the situation, officers implemented a rolling roadblock.

But the disruption led to a crash involving two lorries and a police motorbike. The rider was injured and treated at the scene.

Two suspects were promptly arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance during this incident.

More Arrests as Protests Spread

Later, officers tackled reports of people climbing gantries near Junctions 29 and 30. A man was brought down from a gantry at Junction 30 and arrested. Police continue efforts to remove another protestor at Junction 29.

The force is working closely with National Highways to keep as much of the motorway open as possible and to restore traffic flow swiftly.

Chief Superintendent Speaks Out

“Officers have again responded quickly to minimise disruption and two people have already been arrested. One of our officers has been injured as they worked to help resolve this situation. Our roads policing officers are dedicated, specialist officers who come to work to serve the public and keep you safe on our roads. They do this tirelessly, day-in day-out. Sadly, this morning one of these fantastic officers has been injured while carrying out this work. My thoughts are with them and their family. I want to thank the public for their support, patience and understanding while we work to resolve this situation.” — Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow
