At 5.50pm, paramedics alerted police to a two-vehicle smash on the B3089 in Berwick St Leonard. One car flipped onto its side. The air ambulance rushed to the scene, where a woman was found in critical condition and rushed to hospital. The road remains shut as investigations continue.

Just before 7.30pm, police were called to the B4039 near Yatton Keynell after reports of a three-vehicle collision. That stretch is still closed while emergency teams work on the scene.
