Three Jailed for Brutal Devon Kidnap and Hammer Attack

Three men have been locked up after a terrifying kidnap and savage hammer assault in Holsworthy, Devon. The victim was left fighting for life in a shocking June 2024 attack.

Hammer-Wielding Thug Gets Six and a Half Years

  • Connor Stevens, 24, of Holsworthy, battered the victim repeatedly with a claw hammer. Convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent (Section 18 GBH), robbery, and possession of a weapon, he was sentenced to six and a half years behind bars.
  • Ryan Hawke, 33, from Scotland, masterminded the kidnap. He received three and a half years in prison.
  • Kai Abbott, 26, also from Holsworthy, was found guilty of affray and handed 15 months.

How The Horrific Attack Went Down

Hawke, who knew the victim, lured him with the promise of a lift to collect a car from an ex-partner’s house. Picking him up near Launceston Cemetery, Hawke made several stops before pulling into Dunsland car park around 9pm.

He snatched the car keys and told the victim he wasn’t going anywhere. Two masked men, including Stevens, dragged the man out of the vehicle. Stevens then unleashed a savage hammer attack while Abbott joined the beating.

Hawke fled the scene, leaving the victim battered and bleeding. The victim staggered into nearby woods but collapsed. A passerby found him the next day and he was rushed to North Devon Hospital with fractured head and leg bones and severe bruises.

Police Act Fast: Justice Served

Officers quickly arrested the trio. Phone records placed all three at the attack scene, sealing their convictions.

“The violence used in this pre-planned attack has no place on the streets of North Devon,” said DC Sam Jones. “These sentences send a clear message to criminals and show our commitment to community safety.”
