A Shoebury mum has hailed Essex Police for their “amazing support, understanding and dedication” after a man was locked up for nearly 14 years over horrific child sex offences.

Justice Finally Served for Survivors

The brave mum said, “We’ve been heard and have got justice thanks to the incredible work of Essex Police.” She praised officers for being “so understanding and easy to talk to” throughout the gruelling investigation.

“He pleaded guilty to the horrendous abuse and now we can start rebuilding our lives,” she added. Though trauma still lingers, the family is finding joy in everyday moments – like choosing favourite colours and TV shows.

“The police and our counsellor are giving us back our future. It’s been really difficult, but now he’s been jailed, we can look forward.” She urged others suffering abuse to come forward: “Essex Police will support you.”

Gruesome Crimes, Heavy Sentence

  • On 24 September, Duran Guscott, 38, of Wakering Road, Shoeburyness, was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court.
  • He admitted 12 charges including attempted rape of a child, multiple sexual assaults, and taking indecent images of children.
  • The judge handed him 13 years and 11 months in prison, plus an additional three years and one month on extended licence.
  • Guscott was also slapped with a lifetime restraining order, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and will stay on the sex offenders register for life.

Essex Police Praise Survivor Courage

Detective Constable Kayla Perrie, who led the case, saluted the survivors for their “bravery, patience and fortitude.”

“I want to thank the survivors in this case for sharing distressing information which helped ensure this dangerous man is behind bars.”

“Guscott is a very dangerous and manipulative offender. This sentence reflects the gravity of his crimes. I hope those impacted feel justice has been served and can begin moving forward.”

Detective Perrie vowed Essex Police will “not tolerate those who seek to harm children” and remain fiercely committed to protecting the vulnerable.
