Child Injured in Suspected Knife Incident at Southampton School
A pupil has been hurt in a suspected knife attack at Oasis Academy Mayfield in Southampton. Police rushed to the school shortly after 2pm following reports of the incident.
Bladed Weapon Seized, Investigations Underway
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed one child sustained an injury and a “bladed article” was recovered from the scene. Officers remain at the school, questioning two pupils to piece together what happened.
School Responds: Safety First
The academy released a statement: “We are aware of an incident that took place at the Academy today which was swiftly made safe by staff and is now being investigated by police.”
They added that safeguarding is their top priority, both inside the school and within the wider community. “If any student’s wellbeing is at risk, we act immediately to secure safety,” the statement said.
Zero Tolerance for Dangerous Behaviour
“Unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated,” the spokesperson emphasised. The academy prides itself on robust safeguarding policies to protect its pupils at all times.
