Rasheed Jama, aged 20, has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment at Cardiff Crown Court after being found guilty of nine offences involving racially and religiously aggravated assaults and hate crimes. The offences occurred on 20 June and 29 August 2025 and included assaults and harassment accompanied by antisemitic language directed at police officers.
Jama admitted to seven charges linked to two separate dates. On 20 June 2025, he committed a racially aggravated assault on a police officer while also using antisemitic abuse. On 29 August 2025, he repeated similar attacks, including religiously aggravated harassment and further racially motivated assaults, again targeting police personnel.
The court heard that Jama’s attacks involved repeated antisemitic language aimed directly at law enforcement officers, which increased the severity of the charges and the resulting sentence. These incidents highlight the hostile and challenging environment faced by police officers when dealing with offenders expressing hate-fuelled aggression.
Presiding over the case at Cardiff Crown Court, the judge imposed an 18-month prison sentence. This ruling sends a strong message condemning hate crimes and emphasises the serious legal consequences of racially and religiously motivated violence, especially when directed at public servants such as police officers.
