Massive Police Crackdown Hits Hampshire and Thames Valley Roads
Operation Titan, one of the biggest joint police road operations in the area, has smashed crime on Hampshire and Thames Valley streets. Led by the Joint Roads Policing Unit, the blitz targeted criminals who use local roads as their escape routes.
Criminals Taken Off the Road
Over four intense days, cops arrested 18 offenders for crimes including possession of Class A drugs, theft, and drugged driving. The operation started in Iver and Denham, then rolled through Southampton, wiltshire999.co.uk/where/portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth, and finished in Slough.
One key haul came after a car stop in Iver and Denham where officers seized what is believed to be cocaine with an estimated street value of £100,000. A 24-year-old man from Kent faces possession with intent to supply charges and remains under investigation after being released from custody.
High-Tech Policing and Teamwork
Police used the latest ANPR tech alongside motorbikes, marked and unmarked cars, plus the Commercial Vehicle Unit to nail law-breakers. Partner agencies like the DVLA, Immigration, and Motor Insurers’ Bureau joined forces to boost the crackdown.
As a result, 42 vehicles were seized for no insurance or driving without a licence. Cops also snatched a stolen digger worth £12,000 and confiscated confirmed cocaine worth £20,000.
Haulage Shenanigans Exposed
The Commercial Vehicle Unit caught a bizarre “piggy-backing” HGV in Portsmouth. One lorry was literally riding on the back of another while the driver of the carried vehicle snoozed inside his cab. Both drivers pocketed fines totalling £1,000.
Police Chief Sends Warning
“Operation Titan is one of the largest joint roads policing operations run in Hampshire and Thames Valley. We targeted four locations across four days to deny criminals use of our roads,” said Inspector Simon Hills, who led the operation.
“People living and working here deserve roads free from crime, death, and serious injury. We’re making it clear: don’t bother coming here if you’re a criminal. We’ll be back with more operations, targeting those who threaten our communities.”
Inspector Hills added, “This operation was a huge success. We’ve arrested folks for serious crimes like possession with intent to supply and stolen vehicles, plus stopped dangerous road lawbreaking. The public should feel reassured that we’re committed to keeping roads safe.”
