Drug Dealer Caught with £10,500 of Gear and Loaded Gun
Jake Hartley from Green Lane, Hollingworth, was busted in January after cops searched his BMW. They found a huge “laundry” bag stuffed with cannabis worth around £9,500 and cocaine with mixing agent valued at about £1,000.
Deadly Weapon Found in Boot
Officers didn’t stop there. Another white plastic bag in the boot contained a self-loading pistol loaded with 18 rounds – a lethal weapon.
Hartley Locked Up for Nearly 8 Years
Hartley was sentenced yesterday (15 June 2022) at Manchester Minshull Street to seven years and ten months behind bars for possession of a Section 1 firearm, ammunition, and drugs with intent to supply both Class A and Class B substances.
“Hartley is another criminal that we’ve taken off the streets in our efforts to make the region a safer place to live, work, and visit,” said Detective Constable Jake Orr of GMP’s Tameside district.
“The firearm he had could have caused fatal consequences. We remain committed to seizing lethal weapons every day, and this is yet another one removed from our streets.”
Firearm discharges have dropped dramatically in the last year. Getting guns off our streets is the top priority.
“I’m glad we were able to bring Hartley to justice, and our fight against serious crime will continue.”
