Man Dies and Woman Critically Injured in Horrific Late-Night Crash

A 70-year-old man has died and a 67-year-old woman is fighting for her life after a serious car crash on the night of June 21.

Deadly Crash on Hurst Road

The smash happened just before 11pm when a car veered off the road and smashed into a fence at the junction of Hurst Road and Glenhurst Avenue. Emergency responders, including London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene.

Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The female passenger was airlifted to hospital with life-changing injuries and remains in critical condition.

Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Dangerous Driving

The 26-year-old driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving. He is currently in police custody as detectives continue their enquiries.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

Detective Sergeant Rob Harris from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit appealed for any witnesses or dashcam footage to help with the investigation.

“As our enquiries continue, we are keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision or the events leading up to it. Please get in touch.”
