Ex-Teacher Jailed for Abuse Spanning 1979-1991
Graham Tattersall, 68, from Windsor, was slammed with a 12-year jail sentence for a chilling series of child sex offences. The former Garth Hill School teacher was found guilty of attempted rape, seven counts of indecent assault, and four counts of indecency with a child after a seven-day trial at Reading Crown Court.
Abuse in Classrooms, Cars, and Home
Tattersall committed these vile acts against young girls aged 12 to 16 while teaching at Garth Hill School, Bracknell, between 1979 and 1991. His abuse took place in classrooms, his own car during school runs, and even at his former home address.
Victims Speak Out Years Later
The offences only came to light in 2017 when one brave victim reported the abuse to Thames Valley Police. This sparked a lengthy investigation that uncovered more victims. Tattersall was finally arrested in July 2018 and charged earlier this year.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage
“Tattersall abused his position of trust as a teacher. We conducted a thorough three-year investigation and are pleased to deliver justice for the victims,” said Detective Constable Alethea Cox from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit.
“Many of these women had buried their trauma for decades. I thank them for coming forward and trusting us. We want anyone who has suffered abuse—even years ago—to come forward. It is never too late.”
“Tattersall must now serve time to face the full consequences of his actions. We hope this sentence brings some closure for his victims.”
