Wigan Van Stop Uncovers Drugs, Cash & Multiple Offences

GMP Traffic officers made a shock arrest in Wigan after pulling over a van for what seemed like a routine MOT failure. What started as a simple traffic stop quickly spiralled into a serious bust.

Driver Found Without Licence, Insurance & High on Drugs

Officers found the driver had no valid driving licence and was uninsured. A roadside drug test came back positive. On searching the van, police discovered significant quantities of drugs and cash hidden inside.

Multiple Charges Land Driver Behind Bars

  • Driving without a licence
  • Driving without insurance
  • Driving under the influence of drugs
  • Possession of drugs with intent to supply

The van was seized and removed from the road, protecting public safety in the Wigan area.

GMP Praise ‘Proactive Policing’ That Led to Bust

“This is a great example of proactive policing. What started as a simple MOT stop led to taking a dangerous driver off our roads and disrupting potential criminal activity.”

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
