Tragic Chemical Incident in Cowes Claims Young Man’s Life

Emergency services raced to St Mary’s Road, Cowes, just after 7.30pm tonight following a serious chemical incident. A man in his 20s tragically died after reportedly coming into contact with an unknown chemical.

Paramedics Strike Trouble Trying to Save Victim

Two paramedics were also rushed to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment after being affected at the scene. Neighbours watched in shock as one medic was given oxygen outside the property after entering to help.

“One of the medics tried desperately to save the man’s life but was overcome by the chemical,” a witness said.

Fire Crews Deploy Specialist Chemical Unit

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service sent specialist teams equipped with a Detection, Identification and Monitoring Vehicle (DIM) to handle the hazardous situation. The incident remains under investigation.
