Emergency services, including Counter Terrorism armed officers, swarmed Brighton’s Five Ways area tonight. Reports had an armed suspect climbing scaffolding and perching on rooftops near Ditchling Road.

Helicopter and Drone Support the Hunt

The NPAS police helicopter hovered overhead for about an hour. Officers scoured gardens while a police drone swept the scene, intensifying the manhunt.

Road Shutdown as Police Hold the Line

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Police responded to a disturbance in Ditchling Road at 6pm. A section of the road has been closed as officers remain in attendance.”

They added: “This is being treated as an isolated incident with no threat to the wider community.”

Situation De-escalates by Late Evening

By around 11pm, police activity had started to wind down, marking the beginning of the end to tonight’s rooftop drama.
