Police have released an image of a person they want to speak to after a 59-year-old man was assaulted and left with facial injuries while walking along a street in Hove. The incident happened in Church Road, near Hove Villas, at around 10.15pm on Friday, July 24. Police said the victim was walking towards Portslade with a 13-year-old girl when they crossed paths with a man travelling in the opposite direction. The two men bumped into each other and the 59-year-old apologised. However, police said the victim was then verbally and physically assaulted in the street.

Victim taken to hospital with facial injuries

The man suffered multiple injuries to his face during the attack and attended hospital for treatment. Officers investigating the assault have since carried out a number of enquiries and have now released an image of a person they would like to identify and speak to in connection with the incident. Police are asking members of the public to come forward if they recognise the person pictured. Investigators also want to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or may have captured what happened.

Police appeal for CCTV and dashcam footage

Anyone who was in the Church Road area at around 10.15pm on July 24 and has CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage is being urged to check their recordings. Anyone who recognises the person police want to speak to, witnessed the incident or has information which could assist the investigation should contact police online or call 101, quoting serial 123 of 25/07.
