Teenage Cyclist Injured in Basildon Crash as Woman Arrested on Suspicion of Drug Driving

Essex Police are appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a crash on Eastmayne, Basildon, on Sunday evening.

Officers were called to the scene shortly after 6:35pm on 6 July following reports of a collision between a car and a teenage boy on a bicycle.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with a serious shoulder injury, though police confirm his condition is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.


Woman Arrested on Suspicion of Drug Driving

A 20-year-old woman from the Billericay area was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug driving. She has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

A spokesperson for Essex Police – Basildon District said:
“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this incident and are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward.”
