A woman is in a life-threatening condition following a severe multi-vehicle collision on the A346 Salisbury Road near Marlborough. The crash occurred at approximately 1:15pm on 21 January.
The incident began when a lorry travelling towards Marlborough stopped to make a right turn at Browns Farm. Three vehicles queued behind the lorry, causing traffic to slow down. Suddenly, a Kia Sorento collided with a van at the rear of the queue.
The impact pushed the Kia across the road, where it then struck an oncoming car, resulting in a serious multi-car smash.
The driver and front passenger of the Kia, both elderly and in their seventies, sustained serious injuries. The woman remains in a critical, life-threatening condition, while the man is also seriously injured and receiving hospital treatment.
Wiltshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team (SCIT) has launched an urgent appeal for witnesses and any dashcam footage that could assist in understanding how the crash occurred. Anyone with information is asked to contact SCIT on 01225 694597 quoting log number 155, or email SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk.
The A346 was closed for several hours as emergency services and investigators attended the scene, causing significant disruption to traffic. Wiltshire Police thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the delays.
