Concern is growing for Mohammed Khan, a missing Afghan teenager who recently arrived in the UK and disappeared in Deptford, south London, less than a month after his arrival.
The 4’11” teen, who speaks limited English and only Pashto, was last seen playing football in a local park.
On Tuesday, 30 November, at around 4pm, Mohammed left his home in Deptford to play football nearby. When he did not return, police were notified and immediately launched a high-risk missing person investigation.
Mohammed was wearing black jeans, a black puffa jacket, and a black hat featuring a Chicago Bulls logo at the time he went missing. Given his unfamiliarity with the area and limited English skills, officers are concerned for his safety.
Acting Detective Inspector Lara Pink of the South East Missing Persons Unit stated, “We are growing increasingly concerned as we enter the second night since Mohammed went missing. He is in an unfamiliar country, doesn’t speak much English, and may have come into contact with people who wish him harm.”
The police are urging anyone who sees Mohammed to call 999 immediately and quote reference number 7180/01DEC. For other information, members of the public can contact police on 101 or anonymously via 0800 555 111.
Time is critical as the search for Mohammed Khan continues.
