TikTok and Visa have teamed up to launch a brand-new Creator Card for UK influencers. This new debit card is designed to speed up cash flow and help content creators separate their business earnings from personal money, addressing a common challenge faced by those making money online.

The Creator Card is now rolling out across Britain following a soft launch. It specifically targets the growing number of TikTok creators who earn income through live streams, brand deals, affiliate links, and promotional activities. Unlike traditional salaried jobs, social media income often arrives in unpredictable bursts, and this card aims to provide a solution to that issue.

Research conducted by Visa and Censuswide, which surveyed 1,000 professional content creators, highlighted the financial difficulties faced by many in this sector. The findings revealed that 49% of creators reported that late or inconsistent payments negatively impacted their business, 40% had to turn down gigs due to cash flow problems, and over one third experienced stress or anxiety caused by payment delays.

Separating business and personal finances is a priority for creators, with 94% expressing a desire to do so. However, most still use personal bank accounts for their earnings. The Creator Card addresses this by providing a dedicated financial tool for creators. TikTok Live allows creators with more than 1,000 followers to stream and earn virtual gifts, which can be converted into cash. When combined with income from brand deals and sponsorships, creators often have multiple, unstable income streams that require better money management.

Lucy Demery, Visa’s senior vice president for Europe, stated that the card will “empower the next generation of entrepreneurs in the digital economy,” giving creators quick access to funds to spend, plan, and reinvest in their businesses without delays. Paula D’Urbano, head of TikTok Live UK and Ireland, added that the partnership will help creators “turn their passion into a sustainable career.”

The launch of the Creator Card comes amid rapid growth in the creator economy. Visa estimates there are around 200 million content creators worldwide, with the sector projected to reach approximately £370 billion by 2027. Additional statistics show that 85% of creators earn up to £74,000 annually, 95% regularly engage in brand partnerships, and 77% promote products or services every month.

The Creator Card represents a significant financial boost for many digital stars who have been seeking better ways to manage their earnings and grow their businesses.
