Chaos hit the A2 coastbound carriageway when three lorries collided near the Whitfield roundabout, close to Lydden Hill. The crash occurred on Friday morning at around 10.25am, bringing traffic to a complete standstill.

Kent Police responded quickly to the scene, with support from the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue. Due to the severity of the incident, the A2 has been closed in both directions at the roundabout and is expected to remain shut until at least 6.30pm while officers conduct their investigation and clear the wreckage.

Drivers are facing long delays and are strongly advised to avoid the area and follow diversion routes to ease congestion.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward. Those with information are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538, quoting reference 30-0372. Alternatively, tips can be emailed to [email protected].
