Richmond Park Named One of UK’s Top Spots for Stunning Autumn Colours
Richmond Park: London’s Autumn Escape
Country Living has crowned Richmond Park as a must-visit for glowing autumn hues in 2025. The sprawling London gem scooped a spot on the list of best UK places to soak up fiery fall colours. The magazine hailed it as a natural haven bursting with vibrant reds and oranges.
Why Richmond Park Steals the Show
From ancient trees to roaming deer, Richmond Park offers a vivid autumn spectacle. “From ancient trees to birds, beetles, bats, grasses, wildflowers and deer, Richmond Park is the best place for Londoners to flock to during autumn,” Country Living declared.
The park’s rolling hills, peaceful wildlife, and freely wandering deer make it a true oasis in the heart of the capital. Its history stretches back to 1625 when King Charles I made it his private hunting ground. The red and fallow deer introduced then still roam wild today, adding timeless charm.
Wildlife Galore & Seasonal Splendour
Home to rare stag beetles, bats, moths and a massive herd of 600 deer, Richmond Park’s wildlife is as impressive as its autumn shades. Centuries of grazing have sculpted the landscape, crafting a stunning natural canvas of ever-changing fall colours.
“A very beautiful park with wild animals, beautiful landscapes and a relaxing environment,” said one TripAdvisor visitor. Another gushed, “Superb oasis of trees, fields, streams, lakes, wildlife, birds and delightful deer. It’s breathtaking and truly beautiful.”
Visit Tips: Opening Hours & Deer Culls
The park’s pedestrian gates are generally open 24/7, but take note. During deer culls from November to early December and February to early March, gates close between 8pm and 7.30am. Plan your visit around these times to enjoy the autumnal splendour uninterrupted.
