Tragedy on the Tracks: A London-bound train smashed into a van at a level crossing near Lower Road in Teynham, killing the van driver, believed to be an Amazon delivery worker.

High-Speed Crash Sparks Fire

The collision happened at high speed just after 12:45pm. The van burst into flames on impact. Emergency teams, including Kent Police, British Transport Police, and an air ambulance, rushed to the scene.

Rail Chaos and Major Investigation Underway

The railway line between Newington and Faversham is blocked in both directions. Train services are cancelled or delayed, with disruptions expected until at least 3:00pm. A major investigation has been launched to uncover the cause of the crash.

Official Police Update

“Officers were called to the line in Tonge just after 12.45pm today (13 July) following reports of a train striking a van. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is currently being investigated.” – British Transport Police

Passengers Trapped and Evacuated

About 200 passengers were stranded on the train for several hours. They were eventually evacuated and escorted to another train under emergency crew supervision.
