Surrey Police are currently investigating two distinct allegations of historical child sexual abuse connected to the files of Jeffrey Epstein. The incidents are reported to have taken place in Surrey and Berkshire between the late 1980s and the year 2000. Police are in the process of interviewing the alleged victims, but no arrests have been made at this stage.
These investigations follow the recent release of Epstein-related documents by the United States Department of Justice, which have brought to light allegations of wider abuse and trafficking networks operating within the UK.
Two Separate Allegations
One of the allegations involves locations across Surrey and Berkshire during the mid-1990s up to around 2000. The other claim dates back to the mid to late 1980s in West Surrey. Surrey Police have confirmed that both cases are being treated with the utmost seriousness as they seek corroborating evidence to progress their inquiries.
FBI Files Reveal Disturbing Claims
An unredacted FBI report from July 2020, included in the Epstein files, contains troubling claims from a woman who alleged that she was drugged and taken to ‘paedophile ring parties’ in Virginia Water during the mid-1990s. She also claimed that a vehicle driven by Prince Andrew caused her injuries and made allegations involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Ghislaine Maxwell.
Surrey Police have stated that no evidence relating to these specific allegations had been previously reported to them.
Police Appeal For Information
Surrey Police have urged anyone with information about human trafficking or sexual assault connected to Epstein’s network to come forward. The force emphasizes that it is investigating all reports meticulously and is working to establish reasonable lines of enquiry to thoroughly verify the facts.
Broader UK Investigations
Surrey is the third UK police force to investigate Epstein-related allegations since the Department of Justice released millions of documents. Thames Valley Police are examining claims that Prince Andrew passed confidential information to Epstein and are investigating trafficking allegations involving the Duke. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police are investigating Lord Mandelson for alleged misconduct related to confidential information exchanges with Epstein.
Surrey Police are also reportedly looking into the use of airports and RAF bases in sex trafficking, following concerns raised by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Official Police Statement
Following the release of files relating to Jeffrey Epstein by the US Department of Justice, we are investigating two separate allegations of non-recent child sexual abuse. One report relates to locations in Surrey and Berkshire in the mid-1990s to 2000. The other relates to the mid to late 1980s in West Surrey. No arrests have been made. We take all reports of sexual offending seriously and will work to identify any reasonable lines of enquiry to verify information or establish corroborating evidence. There is no further information at this time.
