London Rolls Out 60 Sleek New Ford Ambulances for Winter Blitz

London’s emergency services are gearing up for winter with 60 brand-new, lightweight Ford ambulances hitting the streets soon. The upgrade promises faster, safer rides to protect the city’s nine million residents as temperatures drop.

Fleet Overhaul Boosts Safety and Speed

Designed in partnership with frontline paramedics, these cutting-edge ambulances focus on better patient care and crew safety. Pauline Cranmer, chief paramedic at London Ambulance Service (LAS), said:

“We are strengthening our fleet to provide the best possible care for Londoners as the colder months begin to bite. Our crews need a robust, modern fleet adapted to the needs of our diverse city.”

The new rides cut emissions and come fully loaded with digital tech for the future. Their lightweight build includes game-changing features like automatic trolley beds and powered chairs, making patient transfers safer and slashing injury risks for paramedics.

Paramedics Applaud High-Tech Upgrades

Rob Mullin, a paramedic, and Assistant Ambulance Practitioner Michael Mulryan were among the first to take the new vehicles out for a spin from Edmonton Ambulance Station. Mullin said:

“These new ambulances allow us to treat patients quickly with advanced equipment that’s better for our health and safety, and more comfortable for the patients.”

On their early shift, the duo helped an elderly fall victim, a patient struggling to breathe, and someone suffering abdominal pain—all thanks to the cutting-edge tech onboard.

Winter-Ready: 460 Ambulances Protecting London

This fresh batch is part of a massive 460-vehicle fleet set to patrol London this winter. The expanded, modern fleet ensures top-notch patient care while shielding the brave crews battling the cold and chaos day and night.
