A Lancashire Constabulary spokesman said:
“Flood gates around Garstang and Catterall were opened and coped well with the rain. However, we saw unprecedented flooding in Cleveleys, Preesall, Galgate and Blackpool’s Devonshire Road. All agencies worked tirelessly in a coordinated effort to minimise disruption and protect the public.
“Our focus now is firmly on supporting the communities worst hit by this flooding. We will continue to stand by them in this difficult time.”
