Havant’s Roads Policing Unit closed Redlands Lane tonight after a major pedestrian collision. Emergency crews arrived at the scene just after 5pm on Sunday following multiple distress calls.
Specialist collision investigators were called in as it was reported that a pedestrian was struck by a car near the parade of shops. Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance rushed to the location to provide urgent medical assistance.
Sources indicate that the pedestrian’s injuries could be life-changing, although the exact condition remains unclear as emergency teams continue to secure the area.
The road is currently closed from Wallisdean Avenue to the Avenue Road junctions and is expected to remain shut for some time. Police are advising drivers to avoid the area completely to allow emergency services to work safely.
“Prayers are with all those involved with this serious incident by our church,” said the local minister at St Johns Church, which is situated close to the crash site.
More updates will follow as the story develops.
