Redlands Lane in Fareham was closed tonight following a serious collision in which a pedestrian was struck by a car. The Havant-based Hampshire Roads Policing unit shut the road after receiving multiple emergency calls just after 5pm on Sunday.

Police, paramedics from the South Central Ambulance Service, and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance all responded quickly to the scene near a parade of local shops. Specialist collision investigators were also called in to examine the crash site.

Reports indicate that the pedestrian sustained life-changing injuries. Officers have cordoned off Redlands Lane from the junction of Wallisdean Avenue to Avenue Road while they continue their work at the scene.

Authorities have warned that the road closure will remain in place for some time and have urged drivers to avoid the area. Local residents near St John’s Church, close to the incident, expressed their concern, saying: “Prayers are with all those involved with this serious incident by our church.”

Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
