Emergency services scrambled to the scene of a serious crash on the A2 Boughton bypass this evening, bringing traffic to a halt in both directions. The collision occurred between the M2 and the Harbledown junction, causing significant tailbacks on one of the region’s busiest roads.
An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene, with the helicopter seen hovering overhead before landing nearby to provide urgent medical assistance to those involved in the crash.
By 8:45 pm, National Highways confirmed that the road was cleared and traffic was beginning to flow again. Despite this, tailbacks remained, leaving many drivers stuck in congestion for some time.
A Kent Police spokesperson stated: “Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious collision on the A2 near Dunkirk. The road is closed in both directions between Brenley Corner and the A2050 at Harbledown while we manage the incident.”
The full extent of injuries and the cause of the crash are not yet known. Authorities have said that further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
