A serious crash involving a BMW and a Mercedes van has caused the complete closure of the M20 eastbound between junction 8 (Hollingbourne) and junction 9 (Ashford) in Kent. The incident occurred early Thursday, leading to significant disruption on one of the county’s busiest roads.

Emergency crews are currently working at the scene, while Kent Police and National Highways teams manage traffic and conduct a full investigation into the collision. Although the westbound side of the M20 has partially reopened, lane three remains closed as police continue their inquiries.

Kent Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the serious crash and are urging motorists to avoid the area to allow emergency services to carry out their work safely and efficiently.

Motorists travelling eastbound on the M20 are advised to follow the hollow circle diversion signs. The recommended alternative route is to exit at junction 8, take the third exit at the roundabout, then at the next roundabout take the first exit onto the A20. Drivers should continue along the A20 to Fougeres Way, then head north to junction 9 to rejoin the M20 eastbound.

Authorities warn drivers to allow extra journey time or consider other routes to avoid significant delays.
