A massive clean-up operation is underway on the M2 near Medway services, just hours after the London-bound carriageway was reopened following a tragic fatal crash near Sittingbourne.

The new incident involved a long-wheelbase grey Ford Transit van that flipped onto its roof after smashing into barriers and roadside furniture. The motorway was briefly closed as emergency crews tended to the driver, who reportedly escaped serious injury.

National Highways and specialist contractors are on scene, clearing up damaged barriers, trees, and mud strewn across the carriageway and hard shoulder. Traffic is crawling as drivers slow to watch recovery efforts, with part of the hard shoulder still coned off for safety.

Kent Police have been contacted for comment.
